So, I am super jealous of my home city, Washington, DC, tonight. Digitalism will be there at U Street Music Hall, and I won't be back in DC until Thursday! Life is a soulless slutwhore sometimes... but the silver lining is that I will get to throw a massive bash when I arrive... and I am basically vibrating with excitement about that. Woohoo. Anyway, back to this fantastic remix of the White Stripes...
So, Summer is one week from being (technically) over. It's been a turbulent one, and my music loves have semi-reflected such. Here are the TOP 7 songs that rocked my Summer. All of these songs, I can't quite put them into words here... They're everything from introspective indie rock to high-energy electro-dance, to dirty dance-rock, to optimized pop. Here's a song that has grown on me all week, thanks to my good friend Wes (previously of Coffee&Bars, now of KickKickSnare). He sent it to me with the assumption that it was up my alley, and he could not have been more accurate.
This is electro-clash meets pop and a splash of dance. Digitalism, a German duo founded in 2004, first caught my attention with two stellar tracks in 2008, ZDRLT (Rewind) and Taken Away. Now, FINALLY, they come back with something equally as good. Get it.
German-based, French label-signed duo Digitalism is a big favorite of mine, I must say. After years of listening to them, I wonder why they've never really made it this side of the pond... and then I look at my WORST OF 2010 list, and I realize why. Ugh. Anyway, their distinct style of electro is always refreshing when I need it, and their two new tracks, Blitz and Stratosphere have their signature all over them, while being super instrumental (if you can handle that... if not, don't fret... just click the 1-CLICK-DL button and enjoy the others). I also threw in a remix of Taken Away, one of my favorites of Digitalism's tracks, that I recently found. Check'em out!
