rmx mon: "When It Feels This Good (MAJR edit)" - Richard Vission v. Luciana

Luciana really is the queen of electro/club dance.  The London songstress returns with a vengeance.

She has returned in a very Dragonette-esque track with Richard Vission.  If this collaboration sounds familiar, it is the same one that brought you one of late 2010/2011's biggest dance jams, I Like That.  Check out their "new" one (it was dropped in Europe in late May), below.  Special thanks to DJ MATT BAILER back home, in DC, for throwing this my way.  I edited it up a bit to play it live in heavy dance sets.  I hope you dig it.

Luciana has really been hitting it out of the park this year.  Her Bodyrox track Bow Wow Wow is one of my favorite dance tracks of the year, her track Jump with The Cube Guys is right up there, as well.  And, lastly her club-killer track We Own the Night, with the duo of none other than Wolfgang Gartner and Tiësto, is being blasted everywhere there's a house beat.  She has also, in the past, been responsible for some MASSIVE club hits, such as her previous Bodyrox collaboration, 2006's Yeah Yeah, 2007's Super Mal track Bigger Than Big, 2008's Come On Girl (the only good song Taio Cruz has ever produced), 2010's I Got My Eye On You (by Nari & Milani with Cristian Marchi) and Figure It Out (a track she did with Dave Audé under a pseudonym Isha Coco).    All ELEVEN videos are below.

Oh, and she wrote Kylie Minogue's Cupid Boy, perhaps the best song on Aphrodite.

essential(s): bodyrox, friendly fires

Here are two (very different) dance songs that should be in your collection.

First, we have the lovely Luciana who is a club icon on the other side of the Atlantic, as far as electro-dance tracks g0 (Look up: "I Like That", "I'm Still Hot", "I Got My Eye On You"). This track, produced by Bodyrox, was pretty huge a couple years ago, and is definitely worth a revisit.

Second, we have my favorite song by Friendly Fires, whom I am going to see for the 2nd time this year in a couple weeks! So excited. They opened with this track last time, and I hope it's later in the set this time. They have some of the best energy I've ever seen in a live band. You can tell they love their sound and adore their fans. Why this track, in particular, was never a single, I'll never know. It's easily my favorite of theirs to play live.

remix monday : luciana has her eye on you

I love Luciana, and thanks to DJ Matt Bailer, I was forwarded this great remix featuring her! If you don't love Luciana, or know her, you should fix that ASAP. She's easily one of my favorite pop starlets, and I think she's going to keep getting bigger on this side of the Atlantic (OVERDUE!). She has this natural attitude in her vocals that basically scream "yeah I'm a skanky whore, now suck on my titty, bitch!"... and this is why I love her. This track is extremely danceable. I have been working with it all week and will probably use it on the next teasermix! Get on it.. DOWNLOAD NOW (.m4a)

let's rewind 10 months and smile

3 tracks: SHIFT favorites!

Here are three tracks you are sure to hear on Saturday at SHIFT! They are three tracks I love to play, always get the crowd rolling, and will probably be in my arsenal for a long time. Luciana is my favorite dirty skank. I love her more than my luggage. Teeth is maybe my 2nd favorite Gaga track (behind only Dance in the Dark). Lastly, Drop Down is the dark, heavy, infectious side of electro dance that I love. It's completely new rave (which is what I often consider my sound as a DJ to be) and makes me shake it like a shameless prostitute on a budget. SUCH good times! I'm so excited for Saturday. Hurricane SHIFT will be a category 6!
