remix monday: "Time to Dance (SebastiAn remix)" - The Shoes

This is such a fantastic indie dance track, it must be shared.  The Shoes are my shit right now, and are definitely worth a listen for the ignorant ear.  And, it helps that SebastiAn's remixes (though few and far between) are reliable.

The original is one of my favorite songs, and this remix is in a BPM range that allows me to play it live.  I even sneak it into my pop sets while the plastics aren't paying attention.  So, while you enjoy this lovely remix, also check out the (very long video for the) original track, below.  Oh, and it features Mr. Brokeback Mountain himself.  The bottom.

weekenditty: a remix that tears Rihanna up (AGAIN!)

So it's been a week.  I'm sorry.  Life has been unrelenting, and I have been prioritizing in a way that definitely says 'fuck you' to all the fun things in my life.  Adulthood.  Womp.

Here's a track I've been tinkering with for a few weeks, and finally I put the finishing touches on it and sent it on its soundcloud-merry way this morning.

Rihanna is still my big disappointment of the year, as far as lead-up-letdowns, but this remix almost saves her self-hating, masochistic ass.  I hope you dig it.

This edit is half personal statement, and half massive appreciation for the original remix which is, to say the least, very chill-pop, elongated, and beautiful (great for walking).  I wanted to transfer that energy into a dance track ready for the bars, and here you go!  Enjoy!

fresh: "Alive (Basto remix)" - Adrian Lux ft. The Good Natured

Not. Too. Shabby.

Fresh to me, despite the fact that it is actually 4 months old. Shut up. I like The Good Natured, as she is an upcoming talent in the mold of Lily Allen (who is, indeed, my boo). Adrain Lux means little to me, but that could change.

That is all. Thank you.

essential: warm weather = sexy fiona

As the weather warms (an understatement here in the other sunshine state), my music tastes change thusly. One of my favorite songs for the lazy warm days is a (rare) happy song by Fiona Apple. The First Taste is a happy slut song for all your whores out there looking for a hedonistic anthem sung in the key of a drunken Sunday afternoon. Woohoo!
