summer '11 revisited - "Bounce" & "What a Feeling" club edits

As we go along in this series of club edits I like to make, some are passé to the point where they only work (see also: enjoyable) in the context of a night out dancing or in combination with other songs. In other words, these songs are played-the-fuck-out and aren't worth a post by themselves. So, here are two of the biggest songs of this past summer, together, and me not wasting your time! Hooray! Enjoy...

weekenditty: The SIREN SamplerMix!

The Holiday Hooker Ball (SIREN SamplerMix) - DJ MAJR by MAJRmusic

ARTISTS IN MIX
get. excited.

"I Need You So (DJ MAJR club edit)" - Sneaky Sound System

As far as the new Sneaky Sound System album, my favorite dance track (my favorite track of all is downtempo) is EASILY I Need You So. This track is big as hell, and the bass rocks the hell out of my car speakers... try for yourself...

As far as this club edit, I wanted to shorten the song, up it to a house beat (128bpm) and drop the parts that would possibly kill a dance floor. The song itself is an aphrodisiac to the ears, but to a dance crowd it needs editing. Check it:

Sidenote: doesn't Miss Connie look delightfully eurosexytrash with that do?

fresh: "One That Got Away (Sick Puppy vs. DJ MAJR edit)" - Katy Perry

POLL: SHOULD I PLAY THIS LIVE @ SIREN?
Apparently Sick Puppy made this Katy Perry mix a year ago, when the album first dropped. I really like when a remixer hears what's good before everyone else, and now they look like a genius. It also helps that this remix blows the ass off every other one I've heard (even Mixin Marc's, whose stuff is usually solid but who dropped the ball on this one). Anywho, I did my thing on this club mix and made it playable for me... I'm ready to rock this one out, even if it is boobmeister mcgee singing.

On a side note, does she not look like Demi Moore in that photo? Crazy. Makes me want to kill her husband so she can make me a new pot for my plant. Additionally, this may be my favorite song ever (see also: polished turd) by Katy Perry.

"Give Me All Your Love (Alessio Silvestro vs. DJ MAJR edit)" - Madonna

NOTE:
The link below will still download, despite Madonna's management being big annoying bitches and disallowing the playing of the track.

I had a lot of fun editing this remix (all goddamned morning). Alessio Silvestro, for the 2nd track in a row (the first was Rihanna's We Found Love) has done a pretty awesome job at remixing a brand new song. I thought it needed some help in the momentum department, for my tastes, so I did my best to make it into something I would love to play live. So, I edited it down, sped it up, and deleted the fluff in order to create more of a pop, if you will. So, here ya go! Your weekenditty! Madonna is soooo back.

NEW - "Where Have You Been?" - Rihanna

I'm definitely a fan. I really hope Rihanna keeps making dance music like this and that the new 14-track album, Talk That Talk, isn't full of questionable fluff like her others. There's a void in dance-pop music that Rihanna has a chance to fill before Madonna comes out and slams the hell out of everyone.

Get. It. Gurl.

remix monday: "Mr. Know It All (DJ Kue rmx)" - Adele Lite

"BACK OFF, I'M STAAAARVING!"... r.i.p. Chris Farley
As much as I hate to admit it, I often enjoy me some Adele Lite, AKA Kelly Clarkson. Half the talent for half the filler (or filling...). She's pretty talented, obviously, as we all know from the soothsaying American Idol. Ha. But, yes, I do enjoy her, and I still find joy every time I play Gone- my favorite of hers.

So, she has a new album and the market is finally ripe for her slightly rotund self. She's totally likable, which definitely helps, and has a real edge to her, or curve rather, to which a lot of heifers out there (myself included) can relate. So, as we all delve into the holiday calories, let's enjoy our favorite semi-fatty, Kelly Clarkson, and her new remixed track (by the oft-impressive DJ Kue) Mr. Know It All. Download link above.

I also used this in the awesome new mix, which is available HERE.

weekenditty: Moves Like Jagger (Cosmic Dawn remix)

Ok, so both of these acts kind of blow. Let's be real, folks. Christina Aguilera should have gone the way of Celine Dion a long time ago (just do ballads, heifer... keep your loose-skinned genie in its bottle). As for Maroon 5.... just. stop. (but keep doing that above!)

Then came this catchy little collaboration between these two turds, or a shit sandwich, rather. And, once again, Cosmic Dawn has produced a pop remix of said track that towers above all others. *Click on the tag above to see some of the fantastic remixes he's done that I've posted (most notably Beyonce and Robyn).

So, enjoy this shiny little turd for your weekend. I secretly love it and am using it in my live sets.
Bon Earpetit.
