DJ Zack Rosen will be manning the downstairs, and is no stranger to playing long sets for big crowds. His Homo/Sonic has done quite well over the past 2 years at the Black Cat. His style can best be labeled as an eclectic mix that's heavy on the guess factor and light on the bullsh*t. He has a great respect for indie dance and brit-pop, as well as a healthy affection for riot girl ra-ra and post-punk dance. His style will be perfectlyp placed for those entering the bar in need of a diversion from the normal bump and fizzle of any other dance bar that night. Rosen is also a huge part of The New Gay, a very popular blog, especially in the metro area. Make sure you check it out.
DJ Wesley D is the sacron of the evening. He brings the pop... in hordes. But, before you assume that you'll hear Britney and Gaga all evening, it must be reminded that pop is simply the default common quality of a lot of his musical style. An agile DJ who is heavy on the UK version of the stigmatic terminology, Wesley D will give you the pop that should be pop, not what you hear on the radio. From Annie to Alphabeat, Grum to Goldfrapp, La Roux to Little Boots, Wesley knows what makes you flail around like a nun on fire. One-half of the music blog Coffee&Bars, he is opening up for resident DJ MAJR (me!) from 10p-12a, and is the one you must blame for getting you started so early on the dancefloor (you know, when you are so dance-tired Sunday morning that you can barely make it to your lushy cookout/brunch).
Get ready for some messy mooseknuckle mayhem. See you Saturday & Happy Memorial Day weekend!
