essential tuesday: the cloud room, the spinto band, scanners

Here are three songs you should own.

First, we have The Cloud Room. This act first got my attention with this song, actually. Hey Now Now has been out since I was dancing to it in dive bars in Orlando circa early 2005, and I still love it more than my luggage. It's the epitome of the rock side of modern Brit-pop.

Secondly, we have a
track from The Spinto Band called Oh Mandy, a song to which I was also dancing in 2005 (that I like even more than the aforementioned). This song will haunt you, if you aren't careful, as it was one that captured me immediately. I remember running to the DJ booth (at a bar called Backbooth in downtown Orlando) and demanding to know the title of the track. I was surprised to find out it was a little indie rock band from Wilmington, Delaware, of all places. Nonetheless, this track is easily within my top 10 favorite songs of all time (don't judge me!).

Lastly, we have a track from glorious one-hit-wonders, Scanners. This track, Lowlife, has been a favorite of mine since I discovered it in 2008. It has a fantastic remix by LA Riots, as well. Lowlife is one of those tracks that reminds you that you can swim in multiple emotions: sadness, relief, and liberation... all at once, and still be okay. I'm feeling kind, so I'll throw in the LA Riots remix, too.
